Pole Barns

Pole Buildings

Pole buildings are made of treated poles that are buried three to four feet beneath the surface. From post to post, the 2 x 4 framework is horizontal, and the structure’s base is made of a treated 2 x 8. Typically, the siding is vertical T1-11, steel, board, and batten, or vinyl siding with a 7/16″ OSB backing. Depending on the kind of construction, the trusses are placed on top of the headers or poles. The type of roof sheathing, the use of the building (agricultural, residential, or commercial), and if interior finishing is necessary all affect truss spacing. The top of trusses with greater spans will be covered by 2′ oncenter purlins (2 x 4 or 2 x 6).

The purlins or trusses will be covered with plywood, OSB, or steel.

The location of the structure will determine the appropriate trusses and loadings because all buildings and trusses are created in accordance with your local building codes. Our prices may fluctuate based on loadings and any current modifications made by the building officials. Because local codes may take precedence over national codes, there are thousands of different building codes. If necessary, we can help you sort out your requirements and produce engineered stamped drawings. These buildings have been utilized for everything from manufacturing plants to stilt residences on beaches. Give us a call so we can design a custom or conventional structure for you.
